Female Beastman Design for Antiquis Malleum: Opinions Sought

Over that past few weeks there has been much debate about the proposed Antiquis Malleum range being developed by Eastern Front Studios. Not so long ago I asked you to talk about your opinions on how a beastman range so look and the general consensus was to move away from the 'goatman' archetype and develop something more akin to early '80s mutants.

You would have seen Anthony Ackland's initial beastman concepts here and here and you will be no doubt familiar with Tim Prow's first sculpt here

But what about this?  A design for a female beastman!

What are your thoughts?

Seriously. These can't be for sale soon enough for me.

  2. Brilliant. But perhaps her female "characteristicas" should be a bit more 'saggy'? To make her more harpy-like, and less like a daemonette? Anyways, I would buy it and love to paint it.

  3. I'm always a bit concerned by things like cleavage or bras on fantasy creatures; Not that I'm against female bits in miniature form, just that it conveys a sort of sense of sexuality in the model itself.

In this case we have something which was(?) a female human being, mutated with beast leags and head. Would she still think of herself as human?
Would she still think "this breast plate will enhance my figure and make me more attractive to the boys"?

It could of course be the case that the armour she has is the same that she had as human. But then I'm a bit concerned by the very fantasy-tropeness of a small bikini chestpiece. I would rather that it was a more proper piece of armour, or if she actually was bare-breasted alltogether.

On the whole I think the concept is good and enticing and I like the diversity by having female models as well.

    1. I should clarify that I love the whole concept of the mutations, it's just the torso armour that's a bit out of context.

  4. The concept looks really good - I like the idea of bird-mutants, although there never seemed to be too many of them, even back in the 80s. I'll be looking forward to seeing how this is rendered into a sculpt.

  5. Looks good, though I'd like to see horned goat-like beastladies

  6. This is my favorite concept art from this project so far. I'd be very likely to order this mini. So many possibilities.

  7. Of course she is a bird.

    Loose the stupid push-up armour.

  8. I love it. I really like the idea of a diverse assortment of mutated beastmen instead of a uniform goat-man race. I like all the designs I've seen so far, although this one is my favourite.

  9. Have to agree with the armour comments. Love the concept, would like to see more complete armour or completely horrible mutated breasts.

  10. Thanks for all the comments, and I shall be passing them on to Mick and Tony shortly. I am in two minds about the armour really. I have never been a fan of impractical or silly army, especially on women but I could see the design above fitting with a Slannesh style force.
