Who remembers this? It originally appeared in White Dwarf 132 and we have discussed it before in the linked article. Well, the model's creator, the infamous Tim Prow, has long threatened us on the Oldhammer Facebook Community page to take some more modern snaps of the piece.
And after much nagging, he has finally relented.

ReplyDeleteOrk books? They are still on my 'to buy' list. I should have got hold of them all those years ago - before there was such as thing s Oldhammer. Too much competition for them now!
DeleteVery interesting to see the mini today compared against the old photo. The old photo makes the paint job much more muted, lighter and almost pastel, in comparison to how it looks today. The White Dwarf pic looks like the mini is mainly terracota, when its really more red.
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder if the way I envision all the old minis from the catalogs and White Dwarf looking isn't how they actually looked.
Also wondering if someone who's more technically inclined than me could use Photoshop or GIMP to take a modern photo and convert it to look like it was from White Dwarf 1988 . . . .
The feeling you describe about seeing the mek in the 21st century is true of many of the classic models I have seen. A great many of them still exist in Bryan's collection and do generally look much brighter than they did in WD. Some look decidedly less well painted too!!
