'Oldhammer' Style Miniatures on the Horizon?

No, this isn't an unused piece of concept art from the Realms of Chaos books of yore. I know it does resemble some of the seminal work that those two books contain and you may be wondering why? The answer is simple, its a piece of concept art by Anthony Ackland, the Grandmaster of Chaos, himself!

Only this particular concept art is BRAND NEW and is intended for an exciting new range of 'Oldhammer' style figures being mooted by Eastern Front miniatures!

News is very sketchy at the moment, though I do hope to get a chance to squeeze more information out of Mick Leach in the not too distance future. What I can say at this time is there are plans for a further SEVEN other models (all with concept art that Mick hopes to release in the future) if things work out well with this piece!

Oh, and Tim Prow is sculpting the first miniature!

More news as we get it but I really do hope that the Oldhammer Community gets behind this project as we did with the Daemon of Malal and gives its our full support!

  1. Man- Tony Ackland hasn't lost a beat after all these years. The line detailing on that armor is intense.

    1. Its quite something isn't it? Lovely detail on the baroque armour. Its strange, I was only thinking the other day how I missed the detailing like that on chaos champions (Jes Goodwins ones especially) and then this turns up! Its a very exciting project indeed!

    1. I have seen the other concepts now. Mick has been kind enough to share them with me, though they are not ready for public consumption just yet! So you will have to wait. Let me just say that the other concepts are very exciting, though the boots are going to be changed, and are in my opinion even better than the taster you see here. Think Chaos warrior, thug and knight illustrations from Slaves to Darkness and you'll be on the right track! It nearly brought a tear to my eye to see Tony Ackland working on minis like this again if I am honest!

    2. That is fabulous news! I'm not sure it's normal to be this excited about as-yet-unsculpted miniatures...

    1. That is a good idea Chico! I wonder what the finish product will look like alongside some 80s classic Citadel? I think he would be perfect to lead my yet to be started Oldhammer Tzeentch force.

    1. Enter the naming competition and you might get the miniature free! Yes, the final price is going to be a factor isn't it. Hopefully, once the sculpt is done we will learn a little more about how much it is actually going to cost!

  6. It delights me that oldhammer has reached such a critical mass that this kind of thing is now possible. I'll can't wait to see more, I'll be all over this when we see a release.

    1. Its strange isn't it. I remember when it was just a few of us and our erratic blogging and painting. Now its a thriving community that inspires the professionals!

  8. No one's quite as chaotic as the Grandmaster. I'll have to start a new warband in his honour.
