Oldhammer Days Slanneshi Warband: Orlygg selects his miniatures

As luck would have it, I think I am going to be able to get my small warband up and running without the need to to any converting. Once I get going with a few games, I suspect that will change, but for now, here are the models that I have selected to represent each of my characters. 

Though I have my doubts about the effectiveness of a small force, at least with a range of characters, you have a much greater potential for narrative. I already have plenty of ideas about the Soulshrivers' backstory, which I intend to share with you all at a later date. I don't know about you, but when I paint a character model, his or her story slowly forms in my mind as the layers of paint build up. So I will have a much better who these chaos worshippers are, what ambitions they may have and where exactly they came from.

Here are the models I selected this morning.

As some of you suggested, why not use this model to represent Lewdweb? Luckily, I have nearly full set of the classic champions and managed to lay my hands on him quite quickly. These models deserve a post of their own at some point in the future, as the series really does represent the pinnacle of chaotic champions. Current GW 'improvements' are bland and uninspiring to put it mildly.

This is a very early chaos hero from 1985, and is the oldest of the models I have chosen. This is a recent purchase from eBay. I love the pose, the armour, the hair billowing in the chaotic air... Wonderful. I noticed a painted example is among the mid 80s 'Eavy Metal articles I discussed recently.  Jorlune Nipplegnaw looks quite hard now, doesn't he?

Here's the model I'll use for Dieter, a fairly common sorcerer from 1986. Jes Goodwin sculpted this example if I recognise the style. 

Ken Tzuki Headpeeler will be represented with this fabulous ogre. One of the famous Jes Goodwin models. There was a large range of these, as many of you will know, though Bob Olley did one or two good examples too. I love this model, and the idea of a ogre samurai is an amusing one. There was a more recent 'ogre ninja' but it was nota so well executed.

What do you readers think of my choices? All I have to do know it think about colour schemes, my colour palette and how I will do the bases. As I have far less models than I was expecting, I am going to lavish some time and energy on these miniatures, using some of Andy Craig's tips hopefully. I want to try and capture the feel of Slaves to Darkness Slanneshi painting, so expect lots of electric blue and titillating pink.
